Japan's 6.8 magnitude earthquake rocked back

TOKYO - An earthquake again rocked Japan. An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter Scale (SR) occurred in Okinawa today. But there was no tsunami warning in this event.

The U.S. Geological Survey states as reported by AFP news agency on Tuesday (8/11/2011), a strong earthquake occurred in the waters of the East China Sea, about 218 kilometers west of Naha, Okinawa prefecture.

The quake occurred at a depth of 222 kilometers. So far there has been no reported casualties or damage caused by the earthquake. The quake occurred at about 11:59 local time.

Japan is located at the confluence of four tectonic plates. Sakura was therefore experienced the strongest earthquake in 20 percent of the Earth each year.

On 11 March, around 22 thousand people dead or missing by the earthquake and tsunami in the country. The disaster also triggered a nuclear crisis in Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant that has so far not over yet.
