Bomb wounds 10 soldiers in Pakistan: officials

Miranshah, Pakistan (ots / AFP) - A bomb exploded Monday at least 10 Pakistani soldiers injured in the Taliban and al-Qaeda hotspot of Waziristan, bordering Afghanistan, officials said.

The device was triggered by remote control, when a military vehicle through the region Sararogha village in the mountains of South Waziristan, part of Pakistan's semiautonomous tribal areas transferred district.

"At least 10 soldiers were injured, three seriously," a security official told the AFP news agency.

A local intelligence official confirmed the explosion of a bomb and injured.

Pakistan has carried out an extensive campaign in 2009 in South Waziristan to promote the country `s main faction of the Taliban, but many of their commanders and foot soldiers are believed to have fled to North Waziristan.

Washington pressured Islamabad to start to form an all-out offensive in North Waziristan against al-Qaida network Haqqani, who is responsible for killing U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan and Pakistan, where the spies have close relationships.
