Tips For Healthy Hair

Hair is a major accessory, which can add (or subtract from) your overall look instantly. Keeping in good health is the most important thing you can do to help look and feel great. And, while it seems easy, this is not as simple as minimizing chemical treatments or slathering on conditioner in weekly.

While you can create a string of soft and less split-end-prone, what really matters is the handling of everyday life, this is what creates the most stress - and the potential damage - to your tresses.

To help your locks look their best, we asked experts from around the country for their advice on how to baby your mane every day. So whether your concern is folly, destruction, curly or fragility, we have the answer to reducing the misery and even hair care of the most difficult. Read on for tips to achieve run - your fingers-through-it hair.

Steer clear of plastic-bristle brush. "The fur right is the key," says stylist Edward Tricomi of Warren-Tricomi salon in New York City. "The combination of natural boar hair in a second round or flat brush are best for dry hair, while soft, wide brush walled rubber-toothed best to damp hair." Our favorite brushes include the Mason Pearson Boar Bristle brush ($ 78.50; zitomer.com) and Aveda's Wooden Paddle Brush ($ 17; aveda.com).

Brush before shampooing. A few gentle strokes on dry hair will help remove product buildup and scalp flakes, as well as stimulate the scalp and increases blood flow (which provide nutrients such as oxygen) to hair roots. For the smooth slide, try Clairol Herbal essences Let It Loose Detangling Spray ($ 3; at drug stores).
