Ischemic Cardiomyopathy

Description
The term "ischemic" means an organ, in this case the heart muscle, did not receive enough blood and oxygen. "Cardio" refers to the heart and "myopathy" means this is a disease associated with muscle.

People with this disease have a weak heart pumping, either because of a heart attack or flow resistance of the coronary arteries. Risk factors that support inter alia, high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, high cholesterol, and obesity.

Symptoms
Common symptoms that can be known sufferers include chest pain, rapid pulse, cough, fatigue resulting in fainting, decreased concentration, or difficulty breathing.

Treatment
The goal of treatment is to relieve symptoms and treat the cause of the condition. If symptoms are severe, you may need to stay in the hospital. Several types of drugs have been found to help patients live longer with this disorder.
