Pekanbaru (ANTARA News) - Riau Governor HM Rusli Zainal plans to challenge the national victory over Olympic gold medalist Taufik Hidayat in a friendly match to promote Riau as host of National Sports Week (PON) XVIII 2012.
"The match will be held in Pekanbaru three months," the manager said Rusli Zainal, Zulkarnain Kadir, in Pekanbaru, Monday.
Previously, Rusli Zainal siphon public attention after a boxing ring rose to challenge the former national boxing champion Ellyas Pical in exhibition match on 22 January.
According Zulkadir, the match with Taufik Hidayat also aims to animate the delivery of PON XVIII in 2012.
"The governor expressed readiness to compete for menggaungkan PON in Riau and he does a hobby sport. Ellyas Pical be challenged boxing, now with Taufik Hidayat," said Zulkadir.
He said the match is scheduled to be held at the badminton arena that will be used for PON XVIII at Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Pekanbaru.
Simultaneously, he continued, the event also will be the inauguration of the new gym.
He added, it is now coordinating with the PBSI to the implementation of the game versus the regional head of the national athletes.
